State Golf, or the Show. This Monday and Tuesday three of your fellow classmates went to the state golf tournament, I of course was one of them, along with Austin Westland and Luke Leverington. For those who don't know the state tournament is a two day tournament that you qualify for in the Regional Qualifier, which was held at Spearfish Country Club. The show was also held in Spearfish, it is a challenging, but fun 18 hole golf course located at the entrance to Spearfish Canyon. Luke finished the tournament with a two day total of 192, it was a 91, 101, Austin finished with a 92, 95, and I finished with an 89, 89, 178.
In the PGA, Brandt Snedicker won the FedEx cup and the PGA championship, along with the $11.4 million that comes along with it. Then in the Ryder Cup the United States took a 10-4 lead going into the final day, and they blew up during the singles matches, "The Miracle at Midinah" is tied for the largest comeback in Ryder Cup history, and it will also be known as the biggest blow up in United States golf history.

Jiyai Shin won her second Women's British Open in record fashion. Shin dismantled Royal Liverpool to win by 9 shots, she is one of the most dominant players on the LPGA, and she won the first tournament in a few weeks, the LPGA has taken a few weeks off because of the FedEx Cup. The PGA is getting ready for the PGA championship; this is where someone will win the $1,000,000 first place prize, the FedEx Cup and the $10,000,000 prize that goes along with that.

The Belle Fourche boy’s golf team has conference in Lead on Tuesday the 18th, that’s yours truly birthday.  Lead is one of the toughest courses in the area, it has tiny greens, and the narrowest fairways in the Hills. We have a duel at home on Thursday the 20th, it is the first time we will be at home this year, this is looking to be a good week, with some low numbers posted.

Rory did it again, back to back wins in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. His two shot win kept him in first place in the standings. He was followed very closely all day Sunday by Phil Mickelson who was in contention until he left a shot just short and left of the green on the par 3 16th, he had to settle for par on that hole and from there he settled for 2nd and stayed in the top 5 in the FedEx Cup standings. For those who do not know the people in the top five have the chance to win the cup at the Tour Championship, which will be held next week.  Anyone can win the tour championship, but the top finisher in the tournament, of the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings, but of those only those in the top 5 will have a chance to win the cup.
Last year was an exception when Bill Haas came back from 25th place to win it, but to do that you have to win the tournament by double digits, and with this field that will not happen.  This year’s Tour Championship will be one of the best ever, and the $1.44 million prize for first is not a bad thing, plus if it’s one of the top five in the standings they will get the $10 milling prize for winning the FedEx Cup.  In other news the Belle Fourche boys will be traveling to Meadowbrook Golf club twice for a duel against Stevens, and the STM invite, we will also go to Spearfish Canyon Country Club for the Spearfish Invite.

Its official, Rory Mcilroy has won. The comeback was one of the best of the year; Rory was three back of Louis Oosthuizen starting the day after Louis's incredible day on Saturday shooting an 8 under par 63, after birdying 7 of the first 9 holes.
In other news the Ryder Cup team was announced on Tuesday, Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, and Phil Mickelson all made the team by points, and Captain Davis Love the III made his picks and they were Brandt Snedeker, for his putting and great match play, Dustin Johnson, for his incredible distance off the tee and great short game, Jim Furyk who is one of the most consistent ball strikers in history, and Steve Striker who is great in match play and pairs perfectly with Tiger. It is a strong year for the U.S. team.
The European team this year is Rory Mcilroy, Paul Lawrie Luke Donald, Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, Martian Kaymer, Peter Hanson, and Fransisco Molinari. The two captain’s picks by Jose Maria Olazabal are Ian Poulter and Nicolas Colsaerts, for their great match play records.

This will be a good week between the United States and Europe, for those who don't know the Ryder Cup is the duel between the United States and Europe. This challenge is held every two years and rotates where it is held, this year it will be at Medinha Country Club just outside of Chicago. My prediction, the U.S. wins in singles match play.

Golf, a game that many people enjoy, it's also a game that is really frustrating. The game can be your friend in the case of Nick Watney who won the first tournament of the FedEx cup and won a huge 1.44 million for that win, but the game is very aggravating in the case of Rory McIlroy who had a 8 over par 80 to lose the Masters after a 4 shot lead is known as one of the biggest loses in sports.

This week in golf the boy’s golf team is traveling to Lead on Tuesday to take on Lead and Custer in a triangular. In the FedEx cup this week the Deutsche Bank championship is taking place in Boston, the LPGA has the week off, and the Webb.com tour is playing the Mylan Classic in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, it has a purse of $600,000 and is a tournament to do well in to stay in the 25 or move into it. For those who don't know the 25 is the top money earners who get their PGA tour card.
